Reach into the Future

design your life Dec 22, 2021

When I was just a little girl, I asked my mother, what will I be? Will I be pretty? Will I be rich? Here's what she said to me. Que sera, sera. What will be, will be. The future's not ours to see. Que sera, sera. What will be, will be.

~Song by Doris Day 1956

I don't think I'm alone in having a fascination for what the future holds.

In junior high my girlfriends and I would séance. We'd sit in a circle with a Ouija board hoping that the mystical oracle would reach into the future and give us the answers we were hoping for.

Of course the Magic 8 ball was another fortune-telling device that would give us a yes-or-no answer to important questions like whether or not certain cute boys were crushing on us.

None of us have the answers. No one can predict what will be in 2022. My motto for 2021 was *expect the unexpected* anticipating good things. (Clearly, I should have been more specific.)

The entire world is in chaos. All of this made me take a step back. It got me thinking about how, when things are not going well how easy and tempting it is to stop believing in yourself.

Whether we achieve our goals, or barely make it through the year (or a combination of both) the most important thing is to come out stronger, more resilient and more determined to make big moves in days to come.

I remembered, beauty and worthiness comes from not shrinking when life is hard. I got more clarity when I acknowledged that dealing with the unexpected means feeling scared, uncomfortable and uncertain. It's normal and it's temporary.

I know that something as profound as changing your way of thinking, or as simple as having a good-outfit day can have a positive impact on your confidence.

The calendar will soon flip from 2021 to 2022. I's time to think about a new me for the new year. I'm working on my Vision Board. It's a powerful tool to manifest what you want to attract to yourself in life. The over-riding question I will answer is who do I have to be to attract what I want in life?  I know that magic pixie dust won't get me to where I want to go. My intention is focused on what can be, not what was or is right now.

I'm having a conversation with myself and a visit with my future self. I want to understand her dreams and goals to make for her long-game-of-life a reality.

I'll launch into 2022 with a clear path and belief in myself for using my super-power to build the life I want. My mindset going into this new year is totally different thanks to the struggles of this past one.

I know that the best days of my life haven't happened yet.

Who do you need to be?
