Summer of Selfish

love your life Jun 15, 2022

"Summertime and the livin' is easy" (Ella Fitzgerald 1968.)  It hasn't been easy for a while now which makes summer this year seem extra special. It feels like it's been forever since we've been able to gather, to travel and do things we took for granted as *normal* before the pandemic. We've been living through a cultural shift for the past two years and it's taken it's toll on all of us.

How are you, really?

I've declared 2022 to be the summer of selfish. That's not a synonym for anything sinister. The exact meaning and dictionary definition of the word *selfishness* is: concern with one's own interests. It's the ultimate gift to myself. I'm ready to forget the hustle for a bit to relax, put fear behind me and chill, play, travel and soak up the sun as I think about what's important to me and how I want to spend the time I have left on this planet.

Each August (my birthday month) I make a comittment to myself to take a breather and live in the energy of self-awareness and self-care. I shut down my computer often (I mean really shut it down - not just closing my screen for the night) and give myself permission to just be and think about how I can make more room in my life for actual living - doing things I enjoy with people I care about.

I'm planning to make memories. We'll have a family weekend getaway in a beautiful cabin in the mountains. My hubby Scottie and I will be cruising for 10 days, we have fun times planned with friends and we'll be meeting our new baby grand girl Rosie who lives in Halifax.

I'll also challenge myself to get out of my comfort zone and spend more time manifesting possibility as I'm walking along the river near my home and take in the healing power of nature.

Before I sign off this note to you this week I want you to imagine what your summer will bring. What will you plan? What will you do? How will you be selfish?
