Love You Forever

love your life Nov 16, 2022

The son went to his mother.
He picked her up and rocked her back and forth, back and forth.
And he sang this song:

I'll love you forever
I'll like you for always
As long as I'm living
My Mommy you'll be.

~Robert Munsch

Each week I invite you into my life. I suspect it's not much different than yours. Ups, downs and in-betweens. Mostly it's same stuff, different day.

Last week I wrote about my favourite colour of lipstick, but this week isn't as light. I'm feeling raw. My heart hurts. I wasn't even going to send you a note today, but then I remembered, my musings are really about journaling my life and I have always found clarity and comfort in committing my thoughts to paper.  It's a healing process for me and others who journal to understand themselves and what's going on in life at a deeper level.

For those who have followed me for the past years, you know my mother Elise has Osteoporosis in her back. Now at 91 a recent X-ray showed 5 new fractures and some old one's worsening. Basically, her spine is crumbling in an otherwise healthy body. She will live with chronic pain for the rest of her days.

To see her suffering brings me to tears. I feel helpless because I am. There is nothing I can do.

When my kids were little one of my favorite books was "Love You Forever" by Robert Munsch. His book relates to the full circle moments of life. All I can do at this moment in time until she is finally without pain is make sure she knows I'm here for her and I love her. And my children and grandchildren are doing the same.

If I could hold her and hug her forever I would.
